The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises on Monday inaugurated a technology centre at Sikandarpur in Bihta, Patna, and four extension centres in Muzaffarpur, Rohtas, Darbhanga and Munger, with the facilities aimed at training youth in advanced manufacturing and supporting MSMEs.
Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary jointly inaugurated the centres, according to an official statement.
The technology centre at Sikandarpur, Bihta has been set up at a cost of Rs 171 crore on 15 acres of land provided by the Bihar government.
According to the ministry, the centre is focused on general engineering and equipped with technologies including CNC machining, additive manufacturing, EDM, coordinate measuring machines, vacuum heat treatment and hydraulic and mechanical presses.
It will provide consultancy support to MSMEs and training in tool and die making, CNC manufacturing, CAD/CAM, advanced welding and industrial and process automation.
More than one lakh youth to be trained
The ministry said the facility is expected to train more than one lakh youth in the coming years.
The four extension centres inaugurated simultaneously will together train more than 5,500 candidates annually through short-term and long-term programmes.
Training areas include AI and IoT, tool and die making, CNC manufacturing, CAD/CAM, welding, quality control, SolidWorks and 3D printing, the statement said.

The centres are also expected to support around 1,500 MSMEs every year through technology and process-related assistance aimed at improving operational efficiency.
Addressing the event, Choudhary said the centres would create opportunities for youth to receive industry-oriented training while providing technological support to enterprises.
Manjhi said the initiatives would contribute to Bihar’s industrial and economic development.
During the programme, beneficiaries under PM Vishwakarma, Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme and Gramodyog Vikas Yojana were given toolkits and cheques, while recognition certificates were distributed to beneficiaries under the National SC/ST Hub Scheme.
An exhibition showcasing products by beneficiaries of the National SC/ST Hub, PM Vishwakarma and PMEGP was also organised at the technology centre.
The ministry said it would organise 350 Entrepreneur Awareness and Special Vendor Development Programmes across the country to promote awareness of the National SC/ST Hub Scheme and support SC/ST enterprises in public procurement.
