Prior to formally assuming charge, Ramana had been handling several key operational and strategic areas within NIC, effectively functioning in a leadership role, sources familiar with the organisation said.
Ramana, a Scientist-G and Group Coordinator at NIC, has been overseeing a wide portfolio of technical domains. These include application security audit, cyber and information security audit group, command and control centre, data centre audit division and data centre, cloud infrastructure and services group.
His responsibilities have also covered network-related functions such as network core, network operation centre, network services group and Bhawans and network audit. In addition, he has been associated with NIC service desk operations and programmes linked to the National Knowledge Network and Digital India infrastructure.
Officials said his involvement across these domains positioned him at the centre of NIC’s operations, with oversight of core infrastructure and service delivery functions.
Ramana joined NIC in 1993 and has a career spanning more than 32 years within the organisation. Over this period, he has worked on several key projects related to government digital infrastructure and service delivery, according to internal details.
NIC, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, plays a central role in the government’s digital ecosystem, providing network connectivity, cloud services, cybersecurity frameworks and application development support to public sector institutions.
